Dying Well
Dying well is a sacred art, one which requires us to be able to access stillness and trust, in the midst of every psycho-biological mechanism which tells us to run, fight, dissociate and turn back.
But dying well, while living, is the only way we awaken. It is the only way to allow our outdated, suffocating structures and identities to dissolve, so that more and more out of lives are filled with radiant rainbow light and presence.
If you’re dying now— if old parts of you are decaying and putrefying—
Here are a few loving reminders—
1. Access as much stillness and non-action as you can. Surrender the compulsion to “do” anything to make it occur faster, or to resist it happening.
2. Access as much silence as you can. Talking about what’s occuring engages the mind in old mental patterns and stories which re-activate the existence of that which is dying.
3. Let go of the hope or fear of what life will be like on the other side of this death. There is simply no way to know for sure, until the light dawns on the other side of the veil. Want freedom more than familiarity.
4. Surround yourself with soft, warm, gentle, comforting things. Receive sunlight, live water, soft music. Focus on the sensations of the body rather than the stories of the mind.
5. Remember that you can never really die. And hold on to the light inside you, even as the old matter rots away. Find a river, fallback into its loving embrace, and let it guide you home.
